Norway-Denmark-Sweden unveil joint military package for Ukraine

Oslo, Aug 5 (UNI) Norway, Sweden and Denmark have unveiled a joint military support package for Ukraine, aimed at securing urgently needed US-made defence equipment through an initiative coordinated by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), the Norwegian government announced today.

The three Nordic countries will jointly finance one of the first aid packages under the new US initiative known as the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), which is designed to expedite the delivery of critical military supplies to Ukraine.

Under the plan, Ukraine will receive American-made air defence systems, including additional missiles for the Patriot system.

Norway will initially contribute NKr1.5 billion (USD146 million), while the combined value of the joint package with Sweden and Denmark is estimated at around NKr5 billion (USD485 million). UNI/XINHUA ANV SSP
